Intensely refreshing and reviving, English Peppermint essential oil has a richer and more bracing aroma than our other Peppermint varieties. It is stimulating for both mind and body, and can be used to clear congestion, encourage mental clarity, and relieve muscular aches and pains. It can also help to ease headaches.
Emotionally Peppermint is naturally stimulating and mentally clearing. It can help to enhance positivity, encourage mental clarity and revive depleted energy, making it a perfect pick-me-up when you need to feel more focused and refreshed. It can also help with managing jet lag and tiredness.
Physically Peppermint can be used to ease headaches, nausea and travel sickness, and clear congestion when inhaled. It can also provide relief to tired muscles and joints, and soothe digestive discomfort when used in a massage blend.
Around the home Peppermint is a natural spider deterrent. Simply place a few drops of the essential oil on a cotton wool ball and leave it in the corner of a room to help keep spiders at bay.
English Peppermint essential oil has a rich, bracing scent with a sweet minty aroma.
Aromatically, English Peppermint is a top note essential oil. It’s the first oil you will smell in a blend. It blends well with Eucalyptus, Lavender or Rosemary.
Native to the Mediterranean, Peppermint now grows in abundance all over the globe. A hybrid of Spearmint and Watermint, it’s by far the most pungent of the mint (Lamiaceae) family. Its fresh and invigorating aroma is due to its high menthol content, and you only need to touch the plant to release its recognisable scent. It has tough, dark stems and serrated green leaves. Peppermint has been mentioned throughout history, tracing back to Chinese and Japanese folk medicine practices, and even ancient Egyptian times, where dried Peppermint leaves were found placed in tombs inside pyramids. In Greek and Roman culture, it was used to scent bathwater and fabrics, as it was thought to help calm the nerves.
For external use only. Peppermint oil is best avoided in facial massage. Do not use undiluted on the skin. Avoid contact with sensitive areas, such as eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use Peppermint on children under 6 years old. Consult your healthcare professional before using essential oils during pregnancy and nursing. Best kept in a cool, dry place. Once opened, use within 12 months.
